The Okanagan is wine country and everyone knows it. So what better way to spend a Sunday in August then touring the wineries hills of Penticton, BC. With so many wineries to choose from its hard to fit them all into one day. Well, we here at Stop and Store Penticton have put together a list of our best wineries.
Located just a short taxi ride from downtown Penticton this winery is one we recommend you start with. Once you are here you can tell the cab you are walking back. This is a quaint little winery and the staff behind the counter were more than helpful, the tasting is $5 and the Rose at the end is one not to miss, buy a bottle if you can, this one tends to fly off the shelves. When you are done here, turn left onto the road and get walking, there are wineries every couple hundred meters or so.
If you keep going down the road from Hillside you will find Lock and Worth Winery to the right. It doesn’t look like much but you have to follow the road down for a ways and then it will turn left and you are at the winery. This one makes the list because of the cheese tasting that is included with each wine, and boy the cheese is good. People seemed to stop here just to buy the cheese! When you are done here, head to our last winery, Poplar Grove.
One of the original wineries in the area, this one is world renowned and it lives up the expectation. Inside a massive building with giant ceilings, you will find 4-5 wine tasting tables with their own staff. Tasting again is $5 and at this one, we were able to try more wines then any of the others. A top venue for weddings, Poplar Grove is not to be missed.
